Water for the herd, watched all night

Frostwatch watches the pump house: pipe and water temperature, pressure, the heater and the power. When a line starts to freeze, it texts your call list, then phones each person in order until someone presses 1.

How it works

One cold night, minute by minute

A box in the pump house reads the pipes, the water, the pressure, the heater and the power every 30 seconds. If it goes quiet for 15 minutes, that counts as a problem too.

  1. 2:14 AMThe pipe at the wall reads 2.8 °C. Frostwatch texts your call list.
  2. 2:19 AMNobody has answered. It phones Dave, first on the call list.
  3. 2:20 AMDave presses 1. Everyone gets a text: Dave is handling it.
  4. 2:41 AMThe heater is back on. The pipe reads 6 °C again.
